The Longmen Grottoes and the Stone Buddhas of Henan
Cut into the limestone cliffs on both banks of the Yi River thirteen kilometres south of Luoyang, the Longmen Grottoes hold the largest body of Buddhist sculpture ever carved into rock outside India itself, and the most important archive of Chinese calligraphy in stone.
